In the late 1980’s
the UK Office of Government Commerce (OGC), then known as CCTA, began to develop guidelines for managing effective IT operations.
The result was the IT Infrastructure Library (ITIL), widely recoginised as the de facto
standards of IT Service Management best practice.
At the core of ITIL are
good practice guidelines in Service Desk, Incident and Problem
Management, Configuration Change and Release Management, Service
Level Management, Capacity and Availability Management, IT Service Continuity Management and Financial Management for IT Services.
Today ITIL is being adopted
around the world by organizations of all sizes and sectors looking to deliver effective and efficient IT processes. In pursuit
of this, hundreds of thousands of IT Professionals have taken ITIL based training courses and examinations.
